Show homes really give the visitor a slice of life view into the new build, highlighting its features and giving us an idea as to how the finishes enhance your home. Although show homes experience light foot traffic compared to everyday use, it’s a good chance to see things like how the carpet wears; and how the door handles hold up, and the light switches, and how dusty the countertops get. Although show home use is very light compared to actual living, it can give you the beginnings of an idea. Don’t be afraid to open doors or gently test features- they’re there to be experienced.

Fixtures

When dressing a show home, the interior designer will usually adjust the furniture to best fit with the fixtures, sockets, and light installations. This includes bed placements, TV ports, and even study layouts. Having a fully decorated show home can help envision the most ergonomic layout for your new home, while also giving you some inspiration along the way.

We can all look like measurements on paper, but it’s another thing altogether seeing it in person. Seeing furniture in place can also help you judge whether your existing pieces will fit, or if you might need to rethink your setup.
