Located on the Maidstone to Hastings road, Cranbrook is a peaceful town with all you could ask for. The small town is surrounded by rural life and is home to several quaint villages such as Sandhurst, Sissinghurst and Swattenden.

Cranbrook is host to a full range of community facilities, including a post office, a fascinating and eclectic mix of shops, bars and restaurants, and an enormous assortment of social activities, clubs, sporting events and classes, alongside other entertainments. Cranbrook is also home to excellent educational facilities, including several Nursery schools, Primary schools, and Secondary schools to choose from.

Steeped in history, there are several medieval buildings in Cranbrook dating back to the 15th century, including the George Hotel which dates back to 1400. Over the years there have been four windmills in and around Cranbrook, of which only the Union Mill survives, the tallest and finest working smock mill in England.

Getting around

Quiet yet well-connected, Cranbrook is located just off the A229. The nearest train stations are Robertsbridge Railway Station and Staplehurst Railway Station which both offer a route to London in an hour. Sissinghurst is about two miles to the north-east, just a short drive away or a very pleasant walk along country paths for the more intrepid.

Slightly further afield, Cranbrook is five miles north of Hawkhurst, 9 miles west of Tenterden, and a half hour drive from Rye. Each of these nearby locations offer their own unique characteristics, history and activities, making Cranbrook and its surrounding areas a fantastic place to live.

Easily accessible education is crucial when deciding a new family home. Fortunately, Cranbrook offers a plethora of nearby schools. For the youngest learners there are several Nurseries, such as Benenden Pre-School, The Learning Tree and Rainbow Pre-School. Primary schools are the next step in the education ladder, with Cranbrook C of E Primary School and Sissinghurst C of E Primary School two of many well-established schools to choose from.

For older children and teenagers, there are several well-regarded grammar schools and colleges in Cranbrook. Among them includes Benenden School, Cranbrook School and The High Weald Academy. There are also three highly-rated preparatory schools to choose from, including Dulwich Preparatory School.
