Alzheimer’s Research UK Fundraising 2023

21-08-2023 News

After a successful 2022 of fundraising for Alzheimer’s Research UK, Clarendon Homes have another great year of fun-filled fundraising set for 2023.

Check back every month to see how we are raising money throughout the year. Details of how you can make your own donations can be found at the bottom of the article.

August-September

On September 24th our Sales and Marketing Manager, Gareth Hill, ran a duathlon at Hever Castle to fundraise for Alzheimer’s Research UK.

A huge thank you to everyone who has helped us to raise an amazing £520!

July

After the success of the men’s World Cup back in winter 2022 (where our winner Suzanne very kindly donated her entire winnings to charity), our office staff decided to do a sweepstake for the women’s World Cup too!

Congratulations to Chris who had the winning team, Spain!

June

12th June marked Flag Day, so we had a small Flag related quiz as an excuse to fundraise! The office was split into two teams and had to navigate through three rounds of flag related trivia, with a bonus “pin the flag on the country” round at the end. In the end, it was the team captained by Gareth who came out on top – congratulations Gareth!

May

May saw the celebration of two major events in the United Kingdom; Eurovision and the coronation of King Charles III.

The coronation was commemorated with a Royal Quiz – King’s vs Queen’s – which saw the boys of the office take on the girls. The quiz ended in a draw, meaning an unprecedented tie-breaker was needed to crown the Queen’s as victors! Alongside our Alzheimer’s Research UK fundraising for this historic event, we were also proud to sponsor Sandhurst Celebrates, who hosted a fun-filled day for the coronation!

April

To celebrate Easter, Clarendon Homes hosted an Easter Egg Hunt in our office to get into the Easter spirit. All participants donated £1 minimum to Alzheimer’s Research UK. There were 20 eggs to find and Chris managed to find the most (4)! If you are looking to celebrate Easter in Kent, check out our article on Easter Activities to do in Kent.

Eurovision was the following week. We decided to do a sweepstake in the office to celebrate the United Kingdom’s first Eurovision since 1998, with 25% of the total pot going directly to Alzheimer’s Research UK. Congratulations to Chris who had the winning country, Sweden!

March

March has seen the conclusion of our Bake Off vs Smoothies fundraising, with Cameron being crowned the King of the competition with his delicious Pavlova! Suzanne and Holly closely followed in 2nd and 3rd place with their crème egg brownies and fruit smoothies respectively. More importantly, throughout the competition we managed to raise an incredible £75.60 towards life changing research. Thank you to all our staff who have donated!

February

To commemorate Valentine’s Day on February 14th, the Clarendon team arrived to work in red/pink clothes (oo la la!) and each member brought in a Valentine’s Day themed snack! Before we tucked in to the various snacks on offer, we all made a contribution to the charity box.

This was followed by the commencement of our Bake Off vs Smoothies competition! Each week, members of staff will be bringing in smoothies or baked goods which they have made from scratch at home for our team to judge, with a charity donation being made by anyone who wants to try our Clarendon culinary creations. Stay tuned to see who emerges victorious…

January

To start the new year off, we recognised it was important to remind ourselves of the crucial work which Alzheimer’s Research UK undertake. We distributed the latest updates from Alzheimer’s Research UK, to ensure our staff are educated on their work and to raise awareness of how our contributions make a life changing difference.
