With the coronation of Charles III and his wife, Camilla, as king and queen of the United Kingdom and Commonwealth realms coming up on Saturday, 6th May 2023, Clarendon are here to suggest a few of the best ways to celebrate this historic day in Kent. From premium events to local village celebrations which Clarendon are proudly sponsoring, there is a coronation activity for everyone!

Leeds Castle

If you are looking to celebrate the coronation in style, Leeds Castle in Maidstone could be the place for you. Coined “the loveliest castle in the world”, Leeds Castle is hosting a grandiose coronation house party on Sunday, 7th May.

The special day will offer a wide range of activities, including an afternoon tea buffet experience in the Maiden’s Tower, games on the lawn of Castle Island and a celebratory dinner. This concludes with an evening dance in the extravagant castle with live entertainment. Packages for this event start from £145 per person.

Coronation Picnic at Chartwell

Chartwell are hosting celebrations of the coronation ceremony with exclusive after-hours access to the gardens of Chartwell. Located in Westerham, Kent, Chartwell is the beautiful family home and garden of Sir Winston Churchill.

Upon arrival at 5:30pm you can enjoy a glass of champagne and bring along a picnic to enjoy the beautiful views. There will also be a live performance from Oxted Band. If you want to make a day out of it, you also have the option of buying access to the property tour earlier in the day.

Tenterden Recreation Ground

The Tenterden Town Council will be hosting ‘Coronation in the Park’ on Sunday, 7th May from 11am to 4pm on Tenterden Recreation Ground. This event is all about communities coming together for the ‘Coronation Big Lunch’. Visitors are welcome to bring along food and drink, or purchase food from a range of local food and drink stalls on the park. These will be run by local businesses, community groups and fundraising organisations.

There will also be live music to suit all ages, local dance groups, maypole dancing, military vehicles and other fun activities yet to be announced. There will also be stalls run by various local charities to create awareness and raise funds. If you are looking for a place to have a hearty meal and raise a glass to the new King, Eureka Park Beefeater is an ideal place to bring friends and family to celebrate the long weekend.

Hever Castle

Hever Castle is offering the opportunity to celebrate the King’s Coronation at the home of two former queens of England! From 6th-8th May, you can bring along a picnic and revel in the royal atmosphere of the historic Castle and stunning gardens. There are also treats available from the Moat Café.

Hever Castle has fun for the whole family. Along with the beautiful scenery and fascinating royal history, children can also get creative by decorating their own crown or shield in a free workshop. Sandhurst Celebrates

After the success of the Queen’s Jubilee celebrations last year, the village of Sandhurst are coming together once again to celebrate the King’s Coronation.

Kent Life Heritage Farm Park

Kent Life is an English open-air museum located at Sandling. This is a vibrant and fun destination with a whole host of family friendly attractions. This family friendly venue is hosting a watch-along of the coronation on Saturday, 6th May, which will be projected on to their big outdoor screen.

From £10 and with family packages available, you can sit back and relax as you drink Pimm’s, eat a cream tea and take part in other Royal activities across site! Kent Life activities will also still be available – including the farmyard friends area, a fun farm ride, outdoor play and plenty of animal encounters. What’s more is that there is free entry for anyone called Charles, which is a fun twist!

Clarendon Coronation Celebrations

As part of our corporate partnership with Alzheimer’s Research UK, our staff will be taking part in fundraising activities on Friday, 5th May. This will include British decorations along with a royal quiz to get us in the coronation spirit!
