Meet the Team: Admin & Accounts Department
16-07-2021 Blog, The Team
Clarendon Homes has evolved and expanded greatly since being formed over 20 years ago. Over the next few weeks, we will be introducing you to some of our office departments, to give an insight into the company from the staff’s perspective, exploring our team culture, favourite developments and more! This week we introduce our Admin and Accounts team…
The Team
Katie, Accounting Technician/Administrator
Katie has worked at Clarendon since she was 18 so is one of the longest serving office staff! She has undertaken various studying during her time here, to become a qualified Accounting Technician. She is also the Office Manager, ensuring things run smoothly and putting her organisational skills to good use.
Hannah, Administrator
Hannah joined the office team in 2018 as we were expanding and needed a dedicated customer service department. She left for maternity leave early 2020 and now she has a little girl, so she works with us part time helping out with admin.
What is your favourite thing about working at Clarendon Homes?
Katie: The people!
Hannah: The people that I work with always make the day easier and we all work together as one big team.
Which is your favourite past development of ours and why?
Katie: Milton Grove in Penenden Heath, Maidstone – very unique looking houses in an ideal location.
Hannah: Pilgrims Place in Thurnham – these were two large three storey houses with bespoke finishes and balcony with front pillars that looked stunning inside and out.
Which development are you looking forward to in the near future, and why?
Katie: Cobnut Park, Boughton Monchelsea – a new challenge of a retirement village and our biggest development currently so far.
Hannah: Our future development in Allington, Maidstone – it will be our biggest development yet of over 100 homes!
What has changed in the time you have been here?
Katie: Clarendon has expanded hugely in comparison to when I first joined in 2014, particularly in the office – and I’m now no longer the only girl!
Hannah: The company has expanded rapidly which is amazing to see from where the business started.
How has the company improved in the time you have been here?
Katie: We have introduced new systems and more efficient ways of working within the office and created new job roles where needed to manage and keep up with the larger sites.
Hannah: There is more structure now that we are expanding. This has therefore opened more job opportunities within the company.
How has the company adapted to working during the pandemic? How have you found it?
Katie: Some have worked from home and some have remained in the office. I found it challenging trying to maintain the office accounts/admin during the office closure as you cannot be hands on working from home for my role as a lot of paperwork is still sent to head office.
Hannah: Many of the staff were and still are working from home. The office also has strict cleaning rules and social distancing measures to ensure we are protected. We have all had to adapt!
Describe/sum up Clarendon in 3 words
Katie: Unique, personal, team.
Hannah: Motivated, progressive and committed.
What do you think makes people choose to buy a Clarendon property?
Katie: The specification, high quality finish and bespoke choices.
Hannah: Clarendon are a smaller house builder and so are able to give the customers an option to choose certain features of the homes.
What would you say is a key selling point of Clarendon properties?
Katie: Clarendon stands out from large developers as a smaller builder – we offer a more personal service.
Hannah: Clarendon is bespoke and the developments stand out from the bigger developers in terms of using higher quality suppliers.
What’s your favourite memory since working for Clarendon?
Katie: The 2019 Christmas party – my sides still hurt from laughing at the dancing (naming no names)!!
Hannah: Our 20th anniversary boat party along the Thames was a huge celebration and one that could not have been missed! So many laughs!
